What’s The Difference Between Deep Tissue and Deep Pressure?
Deep pressure is exactly what it sounds like. It’s pretty much a regular Swedish massage with more pressure. This deeper pressure is achieved by having the table lower, lunging deeper, and leaning in more. Deep tissue on the other hand is a little more involved.
For starters much more time is spent in the problem area. Generally it’s worked on until it’s resolved. And livestrong.com did a good write up on the subject. To quote:
*Deep Tissue Massage Defined
Deep tissue massage focuses on stretching fascia, a three-dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds, supports and penetrates all of the muscles, bones, nerves and organs. Deep tissue massage works layer by layer through connective tissue and muscles down to the deepest accessible layers to change posture and create freedom of movement by releasing fascial adhesions and chronic muscle contracture. Adhesions and scar tissue form in muscles because of injury, chronic poor posture, chronic or acute inflammation and repetitive motions. Deep tissue massage therapists use their fingers, thumbs, fists, forearms and elbows to stretch each muscle and fascia layer.*

Nice to meet you, my name is Vanessa. I originally started out as a beautician and I graduated from a vocational high school in 2008. Following those years I bounced around from different beauty and retail jobs trying to find the right fit. In 2013 I decided to try something different. I figured massage therapy was a good fit. I like helping people and calm environments, so why not?
Not only did I find something new to try, but I found something that I genuinely enjoy. My goal is to learn more modalities and perfect my technique. My long term goal would be to either create or be a part of a wellness based community center. And enjoy to journey along the way.
